- was established at Le Somail in the early 1990's by Neil and Val Johnston. over the years the company has remained the
only hire fleet in southern France specialising in all-steel British canal boats, both narrow- and wide-beam. with the growth of large multi-base hire
operations, this company is now one of very few independent family-owned hire boat businesses on the Canal du Midi.
the new owners, Howard and
Ann Davies own one of the most successful hire fleets in the UK, and acquired the business in 2002 since when they have replaced the entire fleet with brand new
boats :
- the entire fleet was built in England by the hire company.
- 2002 - 2 new narrowboats & 1 new wide beam boat
- 2003 - 3 new Sovereign class wide beam boats
- 2004 - 1 new Explorer 4 class narrowboat
- 2006 - 1 new Explorer 4 class narrowboat
- 2007 - 1 new Explorer 2 class narrowboat
- 2008 - 1 new Sovereignelite class wide beam boat
- 2009 - 1 new Sovereignelite class wide beam boat
- in 2009 the company opened another boat hire

traditional steel English canal boats are the speciality of this company. their base is one of the most picturesque villages
in the heart of the Minervois, and on the longest pound of the Canal du Midi without locks (54 kilometres/ 33 miles). ideally situated therefore to give
easy access to Carcassonne/ Toulouse, Béziers/ Agde and Narbonne/ Port la Nouvelle.
the owners have many years of experience in boathire and the
boats are maintained in first class condition. you are assured of a warm welcome aboard, and for your comfort all boats are supplied with good quality
linen, radio cassette player, central heating and a hot water supply that functions independently of the engine. |
